Fox’s “The Following” draws first blood in the battle for the better serial killer, serial…

“The Following” debuted tonight with an impressive pilot. I couldn’t help but think of Dr. Hannibal Lector and F.B.I. agent Will Graham from Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon”. Clearly Fox is trying to capitalize on the upcoming NBC Hannibal Lector series. Last I heard, NBC’s Lector series will focus on the untold pre-“Red Dragon” story of how Graham hunted and finally captured Dr. Lector and shall debut in the summer of this year. Being quite a Lector fan, I’ve been looking forward to NBC’s Lector since the summer of last year.

So far the casting has been very keen with Mads Mikkelsen in the role of Dr. Lector, I know a few friends who are very happy with this. Also Gillian Anderson will return to TV in the role of Dr. Lector’s therapist. However I’m not sure about the casting of Laurence Fishburne as F.B.I. Head Jack Crawford.

None the less, “The Following” was good and the connections with Edgar Allan Poe were an interesting character trait. However I’m not one to reveal spoilers, if you wish to discuss it just message me. So I’ll leave this entry as “The Following” is something I’ll continue watching. The use of Marilyn Manson’s “Sweet Dreams” at the end of the show was bad form, since that was already claimed by “Grimm” as the music which ended their pilot. It was also more fitting in “Grimm” than how it was presented in “The Following”…
